I've been using headphones for (runs out of fingers & toes to count) a long time. Never had a problem – even in the thick of London. Especially in the thick of London. One underappreciated benefit of music is it drowns out abuse. I get my purity from riding singlespeed.

I really can't think of anything bike-wise, so I'm going to say my hometown. Couldn't wait to escape - left the day I turned 18. It just seemed so boring and dead end (bonus: I grew up on a dead end street). Now when I visit I see it has most of what I need. It's also quiet but not too quiet...

My right turned to left almost 30 years ago when I moved from the US to the UK.

I went exclusively ss around 15 years ago. The only two bikes I have with horizontal dropouts (sorry, track ends) are a Langster and a Dahon folder which came with a hub gear. Current fav is a Sabbath with a magic gear.
