    Carlton unknown

Could be a Flyer. That has similar lugs I think.

I am still looking forward to riding it properly but over the 14 miles I did before I had a bit of an enforced break it is very nice to ride.

Here we have my 3 Carlton's. Top is the Corsa now with a Strong light crank set so shinier than in this photo. This is a 19.5" frame I have had it since 1978. Made out of Tru-Wel steel. Next is the Super Course last version all 531 tubes in the same colour as my wife's nail varnish. This was...

    Lovely but...

I have only been successful at making a profit out of owning something once. Even then it was not a lot. I bought an Austin Healey Sprite (like a MG Midget) for £900 spent £2k on it, drove it for 2 years and about 20k miles and then sold it for £3500. Bicycles on the other hand I tend to buy...

You make a good point Jim, when I first retrieved my Corsa from the shed after many years of resting it was in a poor state. I took it to Rocco in Cambridge whose workshop was next to where I worked. I asked him to restore it because I wanted to use it again. His first comment was " you know...

Seems I keep finding them, this is on Gumtree why not have it as should have been. As a Giro d'Italia or a Professional, I think a Super Course did at one point but it was the earlier version of the cluster. did anything else use the Victor seat cluster? I think it is the later version of the...

    Lovely but...

I wouldn't dream of spending that sort of money. It is one of those things where someone spent a lot of time, effort and money to put this into top order and then to my mind ruined it by giving it the wrong paint job. Especially as the original was a range topping bike which at the right price I...

I saw on eBay this auction. Carlton Professional it is being offered at a phenomenally high price. The reason I brought it up was because of how it has been restored. In many ways this looks good. You would think I could see myself riding something like that. Bear in mind I bought a brilliant...

    The future of (my) cycling?

In September last year I had a collision with a car that pulled out of a side road when I was about 10-15 metres away going at 19 mph or thereabouts. I stopped the bike but not me and I went head first into their car. The driver appears in court soon. Out for a while then awake but unaware for...

Of course. Somebody before I owned mine painted it pink, but actually it looks OK although it does match my wife's nail varnish (handy for chips!!)

The Super Course came in different flavours over the years. The last version in the 1980 guise which is the one I have was all 531. It is a lovely bike to ride.

I would not really know the answer to that but the one I might still be tempted by is the Team Professional MK3 or MK4 The MK5 is nice too but I fancy the victor seat stay configuration of the 3 or 4. Having said that I rather like my little quirky collection.

Hi BOBU sorry must have misread your message. Pocket rocket is a WD-40 alternative same sort of stuff basically a lubricant. The aluminium foil is soft and seems to work by removing very thin layers without scratching the paint. So all the rust bust though paint gets removed leaving often only a...
