Maths sounds right, but you'd be surprised how much difference even 10mm of extra BB height makes to the feel of a bike. I'm not sure on the Geometry of a '95 Marin Ti, but it may be that even an 80mm suspension fork is pushing the limits of what it's designed to work well with. I took 35mm...

Southern-ness is a relative thing. Yorkshire's big enough to have it's own northern/southern divide (and then there are the ones who are even out the top end - you and me almost certainly both fall into the southern bracket, but it's not proper southern, obviously.
Ask a Scot, and I...
the trouble with slackening the head angle, is whatever benefits may come with it will be offset by raising the Bottom Bracket height. I'd be very cautious.
By all means try it, but don't be surprised if it actually rides better as intended. Modernising with wide range cassettes, clutch...
was thinking this was a no, but looks like I might be able to make the Sunday, and possibly with the Saturday evening thrown in for good measure.

couple of options, but can see why you might not want to go with either...
- cheap seatposts have fairly thick walls - you might be better off machining down a thick-walled seatpost very slightly...

I'd just go straight in with a N/W ring unless you are really attached to a particular chain ring you have. Can even get some in 5 arm 110 as long as you aren't after tiny sizes..
Definitely interest...
A couple recently here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=398348,http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=399507 and here: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewto ... p;t=398346
and discussion about a July one here...
Superstar are worth looking at for spacers too (nice coloured ones!)
If you can get a wide based sprocket, it'll dig in less on allow free-hub bodies (not really a problem on steel).
A good chain-line is important. The ring can usually sit on either side of the crank tabs, and most spacer...
