See you're making me really want a pair of TB forks either way JRGSXR. Maybe I'll have to look into getting a disc tab braized onto some TB forks 🤔. Twisting might be an issue...maybe why they were always built heavier 🤷♂️
Thanks Bertha. That's the Ti forks ruled out then. It's sounding less...
That's great info and seems to tie in with the sorts of forks I've been seeing for sale so far. Like you, I would love to know for sure if there was ever a TB disc fork... 🤩
I must weigh my current forks to see if they are TB. If not, then no great loss as the bike rides really nice as it is...
Brilliant, thanks so much for the quick reply JRGSXR.
Oh what a shame if they don't exist. I wonder if anyone has ever seen a pair?
Do you know when Kona started offering the p2s with a disc tab? Were they ever designed to be put on the Explosif or frames from the same era?
Hi there,
I hope some of you gurus can help!
I have a 1997 17" Explosif which I absolutely love but I really want to run a disc brake up front. Alas my current p2s only have canti tabs. There seem to be so many different P2s out there, I'm not sure which would be the best / lightest and most...
As above.
Bit of a long shot for a short man (me).
I'm doing a retro Kona Explosif build but it seems 165mm cranks are quite hard to find. I will be running 10 speed and ideally 2 rings at the front.
I understand I can convert a triple chainset to a double quite easily. Is this just the same...
Re: Profile oversized SS crank with titanium axle and ti spi
Bump £110 posted.
If you are interested, be quick as it is on ebay and if I don't have any real interest privately I will have to let the auction run.
Cheers
Ben
What a pain, I only scrapped one last week!
You should be able to pick one up cheap on ebay if you are patient and set up a saved search or no-one else bids on auction already linked to.
Ben
I posted up a thread recently as to what people might think these might be worth. No-one really new but I have seen SS cranksets in a much worse state sell for £55+ on ebay without the Ti axle or the Ti chainring. Given the good condition and titanium parts I am asking £125 by bank transfer or...
Well the cranks are 175mm which along with 180mm is one of the two most common sizes in BMX. I really don't think the size is a major issue, but I take on board that it may slightly limit the market. No offence mate but I thought you were trolling all the way through. If you had no idea of what...
What you're not making any sense Snapper, are you drunk lol? Why will my inseam measurement help anyone trying to determine the value of a crankset I already own?
My new bike is to be ridden, that's all, and I want to make sure I like the way it feels. I can't use the profile SS cranks on it...
You haven't read the above properly. The SS crank axle is 7/8 or 22.2mm. The largest opening on mid or spanish bearings is 22mm. My new frame has a Spanish BB and the bearings it takes have a 37mm outer diameter. I have been to a bearing specialist and no such bearing exists with a 37mm outer...
Thanks.
I'm not quite sure what you're asking for - a picture of the profile cranks, or of the hubs, or both?
I am certain there is no way the SS crank will work in a spanish or mid BB bike, I'm just after a rough idea of their value.
Are you saying that the slotted axles will work in 14mm...
O yeah, I also have a rear Suzue hub with 14mm slotted axles (to fit a frame with 10mm dropouts). Do you know if there is any demand for these?
Cheers
Ben
Hi guys,
I've finally joined the 21st century and bought a new BMX with a spanish BB but I was gutted to find I couldn't use my old crank. I have the Profile SS oversized which has a 7/8 diameter axle (which equates to about 22.2mm) rather than the standard 22mm. I've looked into every option -...

I can't see that it's already been mentioned here, sorry if it has. Is it definately a 97 or is it actually a 96?
Hope that helps someone
Ben
