Re: I did Stornoway to Barra over two days back in 2013, and enjoyed it although the face wind that you couldn't turn away from was a killer. And I got soaked to the extent that I had to put the clothes that had been soaked earlier back on as they were still drier than my newly wet clothes...

I'd forgotten this thread! The postcript is that I did do the LEJoG in 2015, on a road bike, unsupported, using the Cicerone route, and took 13 days. In ten days on a mountain bike? I wouldn't have enjoyed that, what fool suggested it?

I'm sure you're still a Shetlander... I was up in Lerwick on Sunday and Monday, it was surprisingly quiet given the harbour is full of huge accommodation barges. The Lounge was empty! Cheers Steven
