Danger - contains gravel-related content. A question of handlebars.

+1 Set-up for riding / climbing on the hoods. A wide drop-bar with short reach and short drop is ideal. Descend in the drops having a plenty fist full of brake lever. The Jura is exceptionally lovely. You can expect going up and going down for long periods so a variety of positions will be...

    Trike

@grantoury - it's definitely a British thing. Numbers don't lie. Thank heavens the French nor Italians attempted trikes.

    Trike

Yeah - in Scandinavia the only trikes I've seen, including old vintage ones, were for cargo duties, made of gas pipes, nothing elaborate, single speed for messing about at summer houses on the coast. Can't ever think of seeing one in France nor Spain. Perhaps Colnago should take on the Brits...

    Trike

Approx. very similar. The one local in the club that did ride and do TTs had a George Longstaff trike - local builder on the Cheshire / Staffordshire border. Jason Rourke is now producing them: https://longstaffcycles.com/ Personally see there is a lot to admire about them. Never ridden one...

Free Jägerbomb with a Peroni chaser at the Inn is about all we can rustle up for you and Jamie. What with sinking velo prices for old Suntour and Campag tat these days and all that, time to tighten the belt as year end approaches.

👍 Designed like a plastic BMX magwheel except you couldn't put it in the freezer to straighten it out. Remember this gem too?

rBoTM November RBotM - Theme - Tandems and Trikes - Enter Now!!!!!

Had the pleasure (no joke) of servicing the exact same model. Very satisfying considering how much is crammed in and how they can be serviced and working like a charm again. I opted for more loose bearings instead of caged on the NDS (left butter tray). That is an original Fichtel & Sachs...

rBoTM November RBotM - Theme - Tandems and Trikes - Enter Now!!!!!

Oh I don't know. I could well see it on a wooden boardwalk* and the stoker being very involved eating an ice-cream or such like. * new name for a flat bankless velodrome to please the house racer boys 😄

^ What does that actually do? Looks very elaborate and over engineered just to carry a high-vis flag.

    Vintage French randonneuer's and porteurs.

If you were to own one AL frame at risk, and ride it soft pedalling only, it would be that Meca-Dural. Lovely. Just look at the head-badge. Look at the life scars. 🥰 So far removed from generic AL stuff banged out. And it's totally naked. And that goes a long way. :p

Freewheel compatibility - and coolest freewheel questions

Think the flagship was Regina Or (gold) or something like that. But again are limited capacity since they are roady lightweight gear. From distant memory, some Maillard did have some Al and Ti sprockets. One advantage is they are rebuildable and usually single sprockets cost peanuts. It's a...

Freewheel compatibility - and coolest freewheel questions

7 sp practically universal. For larger sprockets think you will be limited to either Shimano, Suntour or some obscure custom Maillard to be honest.

    Anyone into classic furniture

Totally with you. Personally find that the "utilised" then gets divided again; what is built for individual use (typically a bit more refined and ornate) vs what is for intensive use (just simply up to task, little frills). I see this over and over again at the second shop, and it applies to so...
