    Grahame’s 1999 DeKerf Singlespeed

Inspired by finding @konasexthreerider’s thread, here’s my DeKerf Singlespeed thread. I bought the frame after my friend, the late Mike Hall, let me have a ride on his. “You have to have a ride on my singlespeed. It’s brilliant fun.” Then “You’ll get up there. Use the power of ‘Bwaaarrrrp!’”...

    Chainreaction/Wiggle closing down (?) sale

Big discounts at what Wiggle and Chainreaction are calling their "Final Sale" - I guess this reinforces the rumours of closure https://www.chainreactioncycles.com/m/epicdropswk1824c?index=n&inStock=true

Sorted Left hand (front) trigger shifter

I'm looking for a Left Hand (3x) Shimano trigger shifter to put on my niece's bike. Just the shifter pod and clamp, please. Anything considered. Aesthetics and groupset not important, functionality very important. W.H.Y?

My first jump/pump track bike - Planet X Jack Flash based

No pictures yet, but my 8 year-old daughter is really getting into riding pump tracks, so I bought one of the £50 raw aluminium Jack Flash 25th anniversary frames and decided to build it up as cheaply as possible. The frame has a tapered headtube, and I don't want to spend £100s on a fork for a...

Planet X Jack Flash 25 year anniversary edition

My daughter is getting into BMX and pump tracks, and I wanted to get a jump bike bike to go play with her (BMX too skittish for an old bloke) for not much money. Happened on Planet X's site and found they have reissued the Jack Flash and it is on sale: Raw aluminium - £50* Painted gloss black -...

Wanted URT frame - Kona Kikapu, Trek Y/Fisher Joshua, Breezer Twister or similar. Medium size

As in the title. I have a (perverse?) desire to own a URT bike. By medium size I mean I'm comfortable on 17" Marins, 18" Konas and similar sized Trek bikes from the early-mid 90s. Oh, equipped with an air shock rather than a coil shock would be useful. A Kona Kikapu would have to be from '97...

Wanted Avid BB7 and Fox Alps 5S wanted

Anybody got an Avid BB7 (MTB) caliper and rotor for sale? Ideally a 180 or185mm 6 bolt rotor and the adapter to fit the caliper to the Marzocchi forks on my slightly ridiculous Breezer Twister singlespeed project. Also looking for a Fox Alps 5S (150mm eye-to-eye) to complete the build.

    Old car stereo question

I have a Sony CDX-5181 that I'd like to put into my old car. Unfortunately, I don't have the power loom or the installation manual (and the operating manual isn't much help). So, does Legrandfromage or anybody else here happen to know the pin assignations and wiring plan for the Sony 7 pin...

Risse Racing shocks - any experience

I need to get a new rear shock for my Breezer Twister (the current coilover unit doesn't have a high enough spring rate to cope with my lardy arse), and the only ones that I can find listed anywhere for this bike are the custom built units by Risse: http://www.risseracing.com/breezer.shtml Has...

    Funniest internet forum threads.

This was certainly the funniest thread ever over on Singletrack magazine's forum. I would even suggest that it is a candidate for funniest thread ever, anywhere. Blu-tone deserves an award, in my opinion. Do you know of any that could compete?

    Longboard skateboards - any advice/opinions?

I know I'm going to end up looking like a berk, but I quite fancy getting a longboard to tool around town on/commute to campus on. But I'm also a cheapskate (see what I did there?), so I want to do it on a reasonable budget. So, what boards to other retrobikers own/have experience of/want to...

    My Citroen DS

My favourite car. A 1973 Citroen DS20 Pallas. Semi-automatic, with original full leather interior. Self-leveling, height-adjustable suspension, self-leveling headlights, long-distance lights (full beam to you and me) that turn with the steering, hydraulic actuated clutch and gearbox, power...

Help wanted to collect an ebay purchase in Wakefield

I won the auction for the "badly listed" Bob Yak trailer in Wakefield. I've paid, now I need somebody to pick it up and hold it for me until I can arrange collection in a few weeks time. Anybody able to help? There'll be beer in it for you. More so if you'd be able to get it to London by some...

    Wanted Canti stud M10 x 1.5 thread

I need a canti stud to get my Merlin Mountain back off the road. It is an M10 x 1.5 thread, which appears to be rather unusual. M1 x 1.25 are easy to get, but the only place that I can find for the coarser thread pitch is Paragon Machine Works in California. So, if anybody in the UK has one...

Help request - advice from the recent dads please

I'm really struggling here. My wife is about to produce our first offspring, due date is 21st December, so the call could come at any time. Anyway, the issue is what the heck should I get her for Christmas? Usually, this has been a relatively easy decision, but this year I'm completely...

    Which Dremel?

Right, chaps (and chapesses), After the useful advice on family cars, I'd like a bit more advice from the wise (or at least opinionated) collective: Which Dremel should I ask my wife to get me for my birthday? It is not going to be used heavily, mostly for a bit of hobby/craft type...

Second hand family car choice - help please?

Right, I've sold the BMW, so it's time to find a replacement to use as a family car. I've got a fun/stupid car (the Citroen DS), and the finance director wants an MPV type thing. I don't like paying huge depreciation, so we are looking second hand - up to 3 years old or so. We've narrowed...

1998 BMW 528i SE Touring - Now sold

We've got a little one on the way (Yay!) and my wife wants a car that is easier to get the child into the back of than her Polo 3 Door sport diesel, and smaller in length than my BMW 528 Touring. The deal is, I'll get the Polo, and she'll have the "new" car. So, the Beamer is going. It is...
