Best brake block's for Camapgnolo record/super record brakes

Campagnolo brakes were designed with thicker cables. If you use original Campagnolo cables, then use "FRESH" Campagnolo pads. OEM pads that are 30 years old are NOT a good idea. They must be freshly made pads (Campagnolo still sells them).

AAARRGHHH! Have I got the age all wrong?

The first production bike that I sold with them was in 1981 and the French style ones also came out in late 81. There were a number of forerunners from the 70s but they were from individual builders and not mass producers like Peugeot.

    Dating Cinelli (or other) handlebars?

Cinelli bars should go with Cinelli stems. Mixing and matching is not recommended. I would also avoid shims. The heraldic logos were used up until 1978 approximately. The flying C logo was used after this. The grooves came out in about 1986

GIPIEMME logo on my 1980's Kotter's racing team bike frame

Gipiemme made/marketed a full range of frame building parts, including brake bridges, dropouts, BB shells, fork crowns etc. So the appearance of the name does not mean anything. Photos really are needed to say anything more.

    Mending tyres, HELP!

The best thing to use is Tyvek, the building sealing film that is also used for courier envelopes (DHL, UPS, FedEx...). It is super pliable, very resistant to separation and if you use the envelope flap, already with adhesive to stick to the inside of the tyre.

    Winter shoe recommendations

I ride all winter, including down to -40°C, and have found that the most important aspect of keeping your feet warm is the sole of the shoes. Stay away where possible from anything synthetic (plastics, carbon fibre...) They don't retain any heat and let the cold pass through. Try and find a shoe...

    Northwave = Time TBT compatible?

I was once a distributor for Northwave and they were one of the first to make Speedily compatible shoes so I cannot believe that they would not be ok today. I would however suggest that you send them a message directly.

    Mystery De Rosa

When I worked for the German De Rosa distributor in the 80's, we had a few of these go through. I wasn't terribly impressed by them, nor were our dealers and the production stopped very quickly. I have since see a few come up for sale from time to time. They never seem to achieve very solid...

    Campy Delta Guru please!

Set up properly they work very well. For some reason people like to complain and say that Delta brakes don't work. I have them fitted on 3 bikes and have never had the slightest difficulty when I did the setup and used proper cable housing, used good Campagnolo brake cables, used slightly wider...

Firstly, this is NOT pantographing. Th picture is very poor but it might be Zeus.

    Rim recommendation for C-record rebuild

Re: the delta brakes work best with slightly wider rims, so you want to avoid too narrow a rim. Ideally you want 19 mm internal width as a minimum. The MA40 or its predecessor the G40 were great. The various Campagnolo rims were also good, but as already mentioned much depends on the precise...

    Cinelli bike from 1960s

I wouldn't quite say they are of no great value now as there is an inexplicable attraction for these Riviera bikes in certain markets where collectors do not recognize that these were not built by Cinelli itself but rather by outside suppliers. Because of this, they can at times attract very...

Shimano Dura Ace AX bars and 600 AX bars

As best as I know all Shimano marketed stems and bars match with one another. Have you loosened up the wedge in the stem fully? If you have not loosened it up fully, it can very easily bind and scratch the bars.

Have you had a good look in your barn?

A Speed Six is to a more common F frame in the Moulton range the same way as a Focus is to a GT40 in the Ford range. Apart from the common brand there isn't much in common.

A few pictures from the Colnago Museum in Milan

    Ofmega & ....... ?

I bought an Olympia bike in 1977 and it came fitted with Ofmega hubs, headset and cranks, Campagnolo Nuovo Gran Sport derailleurs, Modolo Speedy brakes. It rode really well (much better than the Colnago that I replaced it with) I believe I still have a set of NOS Ofmega hubs somewhere (36°)
