Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

Looks great that DY! Same tyres I’m running on my gravel thing. I really like them as long as they are tubeless. I ditched the compact triple and bought an ultra low double from Spa Cycles. It’s a triple with the largest ring removed. Running 26/42 with 11-34 8 speeed on back. Still not a low...

Looks really good that. It’s always about the reach for me but that looks like it could work.

Has anyone built a Gravel bike using a retro frame

This picture popped up on some feed or other today and made me think of this thread. Does this remind anyone of the classic nineties xc race pose? I’m not sure about anyone else, but this chiropractor-friendly pose is not my chosen bike fit these day. This is what the marketing folk seem to be...

    Dawes Ranger rehabilitated

Long and slack? It’ll never catch on. Looks great and the big wheels make it look very “normal” for a big frame. I had a 1987 Raleigh Maverick which, although nowhere near the quality as this, looks like it had similar angles. It rode really well on all surfaces and built my leg muscles up as a...

Lockdown build No2 1992 Orange Clockwork....

Very nice indeed - great colour. Can I ask how tall you are and if the 19” fits? I’ve just built a 19” up and I suspect it might be too small for my 6’1” height. Cheers.

    1991-1994 Orange Clockwork Deore LX/DX

1991-1994 Orange Clockwork I’ve had this frame in the shed for about 6 or 7 years now and never got around to building it up. Eventually found the motivation during lockdown. The back story is that I wanted to use some parts I had left over from one of my favourite ever bikes, a 1991...

Mountain Biking The untold British story HD

Re: Watched this last night, thanks. Very interesting and brought back some good memories. I think like a lot of people the “scene” lost me in the early 2000s - pyjamas, motorbikes without motors, rad stuff, etc (good it’s happening but just not for me) but doesn’t mean we can’t still celebrate...

Mayhem 2020 cancelled due to apocalypse

Re: Saw them a few time (including a couple of years ago) and they were great at rock city in 1992 when I saw them. Slightly cheesy, but when you’re young, who cares? We’re gonna change the world! Hooray!

Mayhem 2020 cancelled due to apocalypse

Re: Excellent. I’ve see this before and I’ll choose to have the same year again. 1992 please, sir. The year of Glastonbury, the Levellers, primal scream , love and pink mountain bikes. Turned out a bit crap in the end, but the first 10 months were the best.

Yep, the brakes were good! In my defence I’d had a few beers and I’m not used to front suspension dive. That’s all.
