    1971 King of Mercia

A build for my good fiend Ralph, ullswater of this parish. A frame he’s had for a bit and a fill in job till I get the Ken Bird back from Mario Vaz.

    Peugeot Prologue, 1990’s.

Friend’s Brother second bike and obviously his winter bike with the mudguards. Similar mix of components, not sure about the tubing.

    Peugeot Performance, 1990’s.

My friend has recently inherited a couple of Peugeots from his Brother. Doesn’t need much work, they are pretty clean and a service. Shimano and Ofmega components and Columbus tubing.

From a Ken Bird to a Gillott back to a Ken Bird.

My old friend John has this bike which he bought and had resprayed and decalled up as a Gillott. It’s been languishing in his garage and got a bit tatty. He was so pleased with the other 3 bikes I did for him that he wants this one done. And while I am at it return it to a Ken Bird. More to follow.

    Raleigh Vitesse, 1990’s

I’ve had this bike kicking around for a couple of years and not sure what to do with it. I am planning to cycle to Paris with 4 friends in September, not one of these there and back in a couple of days. No 3 days there and 3 back taking advantage of as many hosteleries there and back. We will be...

Claud Butler Olympic Road 59128, 1970

Bought today to build up next year, I think I am right with dating it as 1970 from serial number. It’s been completely resprayed.

    Hetchins Vade Mecum H27329

A build up for my friend John, who wants it built up with more time period parts. It was originally built up with modern parts to make it easier for his wife to ride. Because of her developing dementia she hasn’t been able to ride it so it’s my next project, sadly it has sustained a dent in the...

    Dayton Flyer

I’ve just bought another frame and forks that was listed as a 1950’s one, I liked the look of it. I think it is earlier than 1950’s any ideas?

    Late 80’s Early 90’s Gillott

Another frame that my friend John has had hanging on his wall. He bought the frame thinking it was a frame from the 50’s and it had been resprayed. It didn’t look that old to me and after a bit of digging it transpired to be from the late 80’s/early 90’ when Mark Joynt owned the name. Still a...

    1953 Hetchins, Experto Crede lugs.

Building this up for an old friend who has had it about 12 years. It’s frame and forks only so nice little project for me. He had it resprayed after he first bought it and been hanging on his wall since. Nice details.

    1954 Holdsworth Hurricane

Having inherited another bike which I thought was a Claud Butler and was used by previous owner as a TT/Track bike, I set to stripping it down for a refurb. With the help of some others on various forums it transpires it is a Holdsworth and not a Claud Butler, still a nice bike but when...

    1974 Freddie Grubb Galibier.

I must have done something good this year, I have been given another bike. This one is a 1974 Freddie Grubb Galibier, by Holdsworth. It’s very grubby having been in storage for decades and the wheels are shot but I think it will come up nicely.

1955 Claud Butler, New All Rounder

I have been given this by someone who’s Father owned it. It’s going to be next project but am in a quandary. There are two badges on the down tube that are interesting but have been defaced. The 1st is a Claud Butler badge but it has a different address on it, Padiham, Lancashire. I understand...

    Pinarello Dogma 60.1

Not sure if this is too modern but I think a future classic, maybe? I think it's lovely but don't ride it at all now. 2009/10 Pinarello Dogma 60.1

    Venturelli Palermo, the Belgian Italian

One of my early rebuilds, I found this Frame in a local Bike shop and wrongly assumed it to be Italian. i liked the look of it and decided to get it resprayed and build it up with a moderrn gearset. As usual I took it off to Mario Vaz, chose the clour scheme and waited to get it back. By this...

    1950’s Dayton Roadmaster.

My mum had a serious stroke a few years ago and we nearly lost her, she has made a super recovery and we talk a lot about her younger days. She was keen cyclist and used to ride from Peckham to visit relatives along the North Kent Coast and Essex. We were chatting about what bike she had and she...

    Harry Hall upgrade.

A little upgrade for a friend, he wanted more modern gear on his little Harry Hall. I managed to hold him back to Veloce 10 speed, I do like the colour. He plans to ride it around the Dutch Border next year, he's as fit as a fiddle so really didn't need to go to 10-speed but it is his bike...

    Sun Cycles

I couldn't help myself it was only £50, too big for me but I look forward to the project. It's a Sun and think it's fairly early with the geometry and a Head Clip but when I pick it up I will investigate more. Any Sun experts out there?
