    got this for free in rough condition.....had been rattlecanned so many times you could scrape the paint off with a putty knife .... wasnt sure what it was at first but once I got down to the original paint it revealed itself..... did this with stuff I had laying around.....its a fun bike

    97 specialized rockhopper 18" frame, manitou pro x cartridge fork, new stem, BB, headset, brakes( avid front , tektro rear) and freshly painted charcoal grey ( rattlecan. but prepped well and applied well.... sell it like this or strip it down more?

    Re: the original brake levers were shot but had a pair off of an 88 miyata city runner that were good... the rear wheel is not original as it has a 7 speed freewheel instead of a 5....works great after some adjustment, so I'll leave it...the handlebars are some I bought off amazon that were not...

    most likely not......you can still get 27" road bike tires which went out in the early 80s.... long as they can keep selling them, they will still keep making 26" tires

I was checking straightness and clearance on the frame... found an S shaped bend in the right side seat stay and the rear dropouts were uneven....the original wheels had flat spots and bent hubs, the original handlebars were bent and the original right...

I picked it out a big pile of stuff people put out because they were moving.... the good thing is I only had to buy a new chain and grips... everything else I had to get it ready to ride..... here are some before...
