    Sorry. The early frames were never commercially pure which was a myth (and I have read this article previously). The later tube sets were produced by Timet and then IMI and the IMI tubes were very good as they were custom butted and then plasma arc welded by Raleigh in Nottingham - very rare...

    Re: Hi, The 708 frames were designed to allow 35mm tyres with mudguards: you may be able to fit some 37mm slick tyres but it would be a very tight fit, if at all, and would be trial and error. Largest I’ve had is 35mm.
