My wife has an X-Lite 18" Ti. These were sold as X-Lite as a frame, and under the Raleigh banner as a full bike. ?1990? XT and Hope, Vee brake frame, now has Rockshox fork with BB7 brake so that both brakes feel the same at the lever. She is away until ?Wednesday? so I can't give a proven...

Just to update........I bought the 2m mono 😗 It is rather good. Certainly sounds better than the 2m Blue for the old mono recordings, and I also use it for some albums that have been 'enhanced' to stereo. They are smoother with the mono cartridge.....

I have a minty 19" Genesis Ti, but it is disc brake , so perhaps too modern for you? Altitude.

I couldn't get any UK frame builder interested in building me a fat bike, not even if i gave them a frame to copy........nor would anyone alter a steel bike to fit a drive side elevated chainstay. So, I'm surprised that the industry is struggling. I thought they must be doing well to turn away...

I'm on studs here in Crook of Devon. Send some of that snow down to me please ;) I think with the amount Jamie has I'd be on my XC skis.

^^^^^ be careful! I tried a fatty and ended up selling all my regular bikes. Now I only have fatties......four of them. :))

Hello you HiFi buffs! I've always had carpet on the floor, but I'm considering switching to laminated hard flooring. What if any are the likely effects on the sound from my system??

Err, 2.6/2.8 to 4.6/4.8 is I think a whole 2" , and you can go 5+....... I have a 2.6 rear/2.8 front 29er wheel set that I use occasionally and I can tell you the difference is massive. If you only ride trail centres then fat doesn't much make sense but can still be fun. Go trad off road...

I can't help with the bike but if you get a cheap one and decide you need a tyre upgrade then let me know. I have 8 spares, all good quality, some new. ( Surly, 45Nrth, Schwalbe). There are lots of bikes on eBay and some are good quality at low prices but are often collect only which can limit...

Fat Viking looks neat ☺ I go to Norway most years but to XC ski and usually in March . Or February and hut to hut tour rather than track ski. Maybe one year I'll take the fatty instead of planks!

Brilliant guys! My ride was short, solo and to the post office in the next village. But a fair bit was off road and the snow was 1" over an icy base. You should post your report and photos on MTBR : they have a fat bike section, and if course a world fat biking day thread........

Grand! My first trip to Scotland in 1973 was to the flow country :) I've spent the summer periodically spinning the J5 and D5 wheelsets to agitate the sealant and dreaming of winter ;)) I'm in the Dales just now, caving. However I do have a bike with me too, and that might come in handy...

Fat isn't dead here :) The bamboo bike is my yoga class bike, but I'm about to move too far to cycle to classes so it will have to go, then I'll only be fat....
