Who made Front & Rear U Brake Frames?

´88 GT Avalance had them, Wheeler also had at least one around ´88/´89 . A few Italian brands like Rossin or Pinarello also did the double-U. If you don´t like money and want to get rid of it, there´s also Brodie, IRD, McMahon, Merlin, Steve Potts, WTB ...

Old Skool Adverts--- Got a Favorite, Post it.

Not necessarily my favourite ad, but certainly one of the most memorable ones if you were reading MBAction back then.

Was there a kit to lighten the suntour xc post?

I mean for the time it came to market (1987?) it wasn´t particularly heavy at ~290g. Compared to what was available back then in 300mm size I would even call it light? But yeah times moved on and a few years later it seemed portly. Been searching for ages for a 27.2 one which is neither...

Have a good weekend with whatever retro thing you do.

I was about to make a start on a wheelset I wanted to build, but the weather was surpringsingly fine, if a bit windy. Nothing beats a retro ride to get rid of the stress during the week! Hope you guys also got out to hit reset.

Anyone have details on how the Avocet 30 cyclocomputer magnet ring works?

Proper nerdy in here, never knew I would find cycling computers interesting. Going from what @novocaine posted, maybe if you half the number of magnets in the 3D printed ring it would help the sensor pick up the changes in the magnetic field more easily? If it´s possible to double the wheel...

Parts That Weigh a Ton, But You Still Love 'em

Salsa stem and chromo bars (thanks again @narcotitlan for the bars). Aside from the cult factor, I love the bomb proof feeling the stems give when the going gets rough. My Marin roller stem, despite being 1 1/8", does flex a lot more (and is about 100g lighter). Bars also have the perfect sweep...

    1990 - 1992 Seatpost options

Nitto S65 comes to mind (Nitto also manufactured the early Ritchey posts). Really beautiful piece and still available new. But personally on a Rocky I couldn´t bring myself to run anything else but a Syncros post. Otherwise it would be like a peanutbutter and Nutella sandwich.

MAVIC 825 thumbshifters: am I missing some parts?

I mean maybe not exacly like that with the lathe and math and everything. But there´s useful info in the video and I did make some springs out of musical wire and much simpler tools myself. It´s simpler than one may think really.

MAVIC 825 thumbshifters: am I missing some parts?

From the parts diagram the springs do look a lot like cantilever springs, but without them in hand it´s hard to jugde what the size is. Failing to find fitting ones you could try your hand in making them yourself?
