    Odd Benotto?

The ultrasonic tester was called in. we're getting about 0.8/9mm - 0. 6mm - 0.8/9mm at the seat tube. Weight frame and forks 2.7kg , 52cm frame. Something early plain guage?

    Odd Benotto?

I've had a good look, and there's not a hint of any pinching. The forks are sturdy buggers with quite a round profile.

    Odd Benotto?

Too many oddities which don't help. The single number 2 on the seat cluster and steerer tube are odd, why such an unsual number in a place that Benotto never used? Maybe an exibition or prototype? One thing I read from a US Benotto representative, was that there were huge ammounts of old stock...

    Odd Benotto?

It seems different to all the 800s I can find, as in mine has no mudguard eyes and has Benotto ends not Suntour. Plus the frame and forks have matching numbers. The braze ons are pointing to 1978. But I'll look into Ishwata and Tange, they also used Oria.

    Odd Benotto?

I don't think I'll ever know what it is. Weighed it again at my mates workshop and we got 2.7kg frame and fork. I'll repaint it in classic Benotto champagne. Then build it up, I have early 600 except the bolt on calipers, but I can convert some. And I have a hardly used wheelset with MA2 rims...

    Odd Benotto?

It does, a Campag type on top of the stay, and strangley further from the drop out than all the Benottos I can see? I'll have to check again, but it's over 2mm at the top!!! The BB shell has absolutley no markings, just two ovalised cut outs. Posting an image of another frame, but exactly the...

    Odd Benotto?

Agree with you SteelNIpple...in at least that's the model it's most like. But the colour, the graphics and the single number 2 on the frame seat cluster and steerer. Why so different to anything you can search?

    Odd Benotto?

Indeed, the 26.4 seatpost suggests el cheapo model. But the build doesn't match the low end ones. Weighs 2.6kg frame and forks, checked on two scales.

    Odd Benotto?

Struggling to identify this one. It looks 70's over BB guides, bolt on calipers, top of chainstay guide and 122mm OLN. Also graphics I've never seen and cant trace on the net, it's also light metalic pink. And the serial number is just 2. on seat cluster and forks 26.4 seatpost. Benotto ends no...

    26" wheeled road bike users

Well it was abslutely fine, I don't think they had a lot of post on show in those days. Not sure of the year yet, but it's a Bates and it is a B.A.R ( U prefix on the serial number)

    26" wheeled road bike users

I'm looking at a purchase of a vintage road bike that has 26" wheels as common in the 1940s. The question is about sizing. my current steel bikes are 21.5 and 22" centre to top. A bike I'm looking at is 23" and built for ols 26x11/4 wheels. Because I'm not sure about BB height on these old...

    John Pavey serial number help.

I've just purchaed a frame badged as a Pavey. Early 90's at a guess. The serial number starts Y00 ?? 098 Any idea's, maybe someone with a John Pavey could help. The unusual feature is the three rear brake guides which are brazed on under the top tube. 126OLN, double bottle bosses, DT gear lever...

    Thin tape for Cinelli bars

sorry such a petty question. Trying to avoid that bulky look on 25.4 bars. I'd use cloth, but I'm running Sram and from experience cloth doesn't stretch well around the lever/shifters. I used a perforated tape in the past, just can't recall what it was. thanks

    A 2000 frame...but is it retro?

130 oln, 50/34 and 12/32. The builder has the chainset I'm using. I've seen a few Campagnolo builds.

    A 2000 frame...but is it retro?

The idea was a build with the things I've loved racing on over the decades. But I also nearly lost my legs two years ago, so part of the agenda was a bike that clearly wasn't a Strava beater, and something I could ride about in shorts and t shirt. Problem was that a lot of stuff I liked would...

    A 2000 frame...but is it retro?

Yep, a T J Cycles 'Flying Gate'. Slightly more racey than a lot of Flying Gates out there.
