Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

Anyone who exceeds the frankly excessive speed of 15mph deserves to be slowed down, by something, police action hopefully. That's pretty much my average commute speed, on a sunny day. I've seen people going faster of course, coming the other way, but they generally have the wind behind them...

    Mike Burrows

This East German Textima from 1979 was contemporary to Mike's creations, who knows whether they were designed independently or if he was aware of the strategies of the DDR builders. They certainly knew how to get very low, by doing away with a traditional stem and mounting the bars directly onto...

He did a QED documentary back in the day, it's very watchable.

Loving the star spangled over shoes! The forks remind me of a Textima, in a good way. If those were from '81, he was clearly ten years ahead of everyone else.

    Mystery Colnago ?

I've had a scout about the interwire, and it could be a Profil CX... The cabling is pretty hideous 😵😜

    Mystery Colnago ?

It's not the best photos but it's the only ones I can get till I see it in the metal. What model of Colnago has a mount for aero levers, and what looks like Gilco star tubing? Clover leaf on head lugs and fork crown, 3/4 chrome rear stays, internal brake cable routing. Was thinking it might be a...

    French thread cutters? Bonkers

Ah, I see! How do I know if they are left or right hand cup dies (or does it matter, do they cut both?) I've got really old set of french dies from the 1920s, and they are marked left and right. I'm pretty sure they are VAR on account there were a lot of VAR tools in the same lot

Found this locally for cheap, but unsure of the provenance of it. Chesini?

No, it's actually etched onto the die

    French thread cutters? Bonkers

I bought three thread cutters, for a good price. I reckon they are probably 1950s, they look like VAR but can't be sure. I'll upload photos later but they are very weird sizings. One of them is 35.2mm the other 36.15mm. This is probably a question for Bikeworkshop, is this normal, to be...

    the Animal

Graeme Obree came quickly to the realisation that he could only compete in the opening prologue. I hope he got paid well for it, hard to train and race your whole career for a one day event 😲

    Lightest Steel Frame?

I inherited a Merckx Max frame from one of my old race pals when he gave up the sport. Although it was a bit of the chunky side (heavy) it was a great stiff ride, which had suited him because he was a monster of a sprinter. No one could get near him in a mass finish, he definitely cited the...

    Lightest Steel Frame?

For a variety of reasons, I've got quite a few steel frames (mostly because I've got the space, a 120sq m loft) I've got roughly 6 working order carbon frames, and all of them with the exception of a Trek Madone have some sort of 'saved by glue and luck' damage to them. My favourite is a 2004...

    Lightest Steel Frame?

That's a very nicely put together frame! Good job, I don't think I've ever seen a steel frame that intricate or lightweight 👍 The lightest small production frame in ever got my hands on was a Lemond 853, I think it was a 50cm, picked it up cheap for my niece. It was just a smidge over 1200gr. It...

    Lightest Steel Frame?

I've got a Columbus spirit Carrera frame, it's stupid light at 1530gr, AND a full chrome rear triangle. I didn't think much of it at first till I built it up and then, wow! A real joy to ride also with a bespoke decor paint finish. Makes you wonder what a bare unpainted frame would weigh in at...

History Of The Urago Marque, & Family

Relatively hard to find (in good condition) in France, the head badges are real Collectors pieces. I've got two, and a 3 speed Urago from the 50s with a seat stay mount Simplex gear lever. Not suicide, but damn as near it 😲😂 The head badge is Francois Urago, a well known 'stayer' of the era.
