Testing out the old Orbea Arama in preparation for a ride from Dieppe to Geneva next week, and then the Rhine cycle route from Andermatt to Rotterdam the following one.
Did 20 miles at17.8 mph on it this morning without getting out of breath. I've never really been able to explain how this...
Beautiful day for a potter, doing a loop that goes out above the Long Man and comes back below him, and taking in some of Sussex's vineyards.
Just me, the Castellano, some vocal horses and a few fluffy clouds.
Well, I totally lied. In the words of Edwyn Collins "I can't help myself". Thought I'd sneak a ride in between showers this evening. And I nearly did. It was all going swimmingly until I actually thought I might have to start swimming.
For @Imlach there is a cross up on the Downs to commemorate...
It is, just used an old alloy bolt and cut up some velcro. Yes, much lighter. Mind you I just put a Reverb dropper on it so it's swings and roundabouts on the weight front.
We've had a series of torrential downpours here today so riding has been restricted to a couple of short shakedowns of my new "flambouyancy aid" wheels on the Chickens and the 450g-lighter fork on the Castellano, including hand-fabricated artisan hose guide.
The storm clouds are gathering again...

Lots of secret bridleways looping back on themselves and 2000ft...
Fast riding! @db95 it is a redshift. I love it. It's one of those things that just works without being noticeable. I don't know if I'd want one on my road bike though. I use one of these on my cross bike...
Sultry Downs ride this morning. Didn't think I was trying too hard, but Strava tells me it was a fast ride. Nice when that happens.
Got a KOM on a fairly rough downhill segment on the Castellano. It's becoming the bike I wanted it to be. 😁
I tried a few forks on a couple of favourite frames and being a lover of a low front end found these a little tall. They're all great forks. The MRP and Norton Shores forks have very few miles on them and are in excellent condition. The steel Salsa fork is a bit more used but still very...
