Vintage 1992 RALEIGH DYNATECH MT4 on eBay

I'd hope so, that's awful. Personally I really like these but do think they're possibly a bit fragile...? The titanium used isn't the toughest and seems to dent quite easily. Then there's the concern about debonding, especially if it's had a hard life. I'd want a really sound looking one...

    Dekerf Team SL build

Wonderful. Nice bits too, but I'd sling the red chainrings; the frame doesn't need those stealing the attention.

They might put a special order in for you? Unless that's old school service, and not offered these days

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

Yep, the OP definitely started the thread trying to imply that, then backtracked somewhat; "I don't think it's entirely certain it's a counterfeit" etc. They seemed a bit evasive about where the frame was located too. I also think the welding 'not up to modern CH standards' was a BS attempt to...

I agree. I fecking hate it. This frame isn't faking anything.

The titanium weld and detail appreciation thread.

Lets see some Moots work ...and some of Vernon's for balance 😁

    Nice hub ideas

You didn't mention anything about titanium, but Hershey Ti hubs are very nice with their polished Ti centres. I quite like my GT Hadley's as well (the U.S. ones). Hugi are very reliable hubs apparently, as are Phil Wood and Royce but those aren't cheap

    Ibis Mojo Ti

Great choices. Looks like a classy, understated build which is what this frame deserves.

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

Fair point, could well be. Might've been a test frame for such a shop. They had absolutely no intention of ever passing it off as a Zaskar though

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

Apparently it weighs a ton. Anyone who knew what they were doing (or cared) would have known the weight was going to be excessive before it was built from the weight of the tubes, plates etc. Makes me incline to the 'enthusiast' commission idea

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

Yeah and we'd have heard something before from someone. And the welds would look like GT welds!

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

When someone gets a custom Chinese Ti frame made by say XACD they often want the exact geometry and dimensions of their old faithful steel Raleigh tourer or whatever. The Zaskar was a very popular bike! It seem likely to me that someone who had a frame commissioned just really fancied their...

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

I don't get this fixation with it being a fake. IT'S NOT A FAKE, COPY, HOAX OR COUNTERFEIT OF ANYTHING!!!!! -You don't try to make a fake stainless steel Seiko by spending far more on materials and manufacture than the original and getting it machined out of titanium! People seem to have been...

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

Each to their own but I find that perplexing. The point is this isn't copying anything!! It would actually have been much cheaper to copy a Xizang or Lightning as there's way more fabrication involved here. This was a committed effort by someone who fancied a Ti Zaskar and specifically *wasn't*...

So it's not an interesting frame then; you really don't find it intriguing?

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

What's it faking though - there never was a Ti Zaskar. The only slightly spurious thing is the implication that it might be a GT prototype. Nobody's set out (at great expense) to fake a fantasy prototype. Some one at some point had the mad idea of having a Zaskar pretty accurately copied out of...

Who can tell me which model of GT this titanium frame is? I've never seen before.

So what's the consensus on when this was most likely made then? How long have fabricators like XACD been doing commissions? (this doesn't look like their work though). Could it have been made 20-30 years ago? Although the OP says the welding isn't up to contemporary Chinese standards, I've seen...

Well I still think the frame's pretty cool. And not disappointed at all - it's one of the most interesting threads in ages! 😁

Looks like classic neat Tech Shop welding there. Quite different from this Ti 'Zaskar' as you say
