Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

Gerard left Cervelo in 2011. Being fair, they are a company that sells product for profit. The taglines not going to be: 'Looks a bit different but in reality is the same as everything else' is it? Even if that's closer to the truth. They're also far from the only ones who do it. Marketing guff...

Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

Funnily enough, George is on an S5 this year as his road bike. He did an 18:52 on Friday beating the next rider on a full TT bike by 37 seconds. His persistent chasing of the details seems to work despite the naysayers. Sorry for the crappy photo! 😁 Much like everything else, if you don't like...

    Nice hub ideas

Thanks for the suggestions gives me some other options to look at/for. :) Hugi are lovely but are a bit earlier than I want and I already have a set of the DT version which is what they became by 95. Ditto White industries, lovely but I already have some. :)

    Nice hub ideas

Thanks Jan :) They look great and are certainly the kind of thing I'm after. I do suspect they're rare and cost a pretty penny but I'll add them to the Ebay search list. You never know. Thanks again. :)

    Nice hub ideas

I have a set of NOS Weinmann/Bontrager Red Dot rims laying about that I'd like to build up but am stuck on hub choice. I'd like something I don't already own in silver (possibly black), 32h, 8 speed Shimano compatible. Mid 90's. I have a couple of sets of M737, a couple of sets of Hope...

    The one's that got away...

I used to have to sell in order to afford the next one. There's a few I wish I'd kept. Pace RC300, Orange Vitamin T2, 93 Stumpjumper among others. Now I just don't really sell anything, there's bits of bike everywhere and I'm beginning to think 1 in, 1 out might have been the more sensible...

    Repro “Onza Porc” white tyres

Slightly ammended Kalle, Proper DH spec tyres are usually well over a kilo, even in 26". Some of the new crop of 29ers are pushing 1500g. :( As for the repro Porcs, if that's what floats your boat I guess. I didn't get it the first time round and still don't. :)

    Bike numbers going down...ish.

I tried and failed massively. It appears I'm a slave to N+1. Good luck to anyone attempting this impossible task. :)

They missed a trick there, if you can't put your lunch in the back what's the point?

Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

And who's to say it doesn't work for them? You only find out by experimenting. :)

Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

Just to clarify, George broke the road bike record. Disc wheels and Tri bars weren't allowed. But he did everything possible within the rules (Which was complained about and went to a hearing, he won, but they've now tightened up the rules). He'll tell you it was because he optimised every last...

Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

That's the only Aero I care about. One day I'll be as aero as a beach ball. :)

Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

I don't care about TT bikes at all and positively hate working on the fecking things. The OP says aero is a lie, I'm just saying that it's not. Marginal, maybe, but it's there. :) Also, 'each to their own', George cares about my Bontragers as much as I care about his 'torture device'.

Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

I have a friend who broke the national 10 mile road bike TT record that had stood for 35 years. (18:41 for the record) Having seen the prep that went into it, aero and position were at least as important as his fitness in the outcome. :)

Why won't my cassette tool not fit?

I've found a cassette tool with a locating pin really helps with this. Like this one. 👍 😁

    Early Bontrager Race Lite

I believe 8 speed Campag has 5 mm sprocket spacing, where Shimano is 4.8mm. So it won't play nicely unfortunately. 😕

    Mystery and Unidentified Parts

They look like the bits supplied with a Royce BB tool for bolting it in place. :)

    How accurate are catalogs?

    If it's a 94 then 410mm. 👍
