1991 GT Karakoram Elite Commuter/All Purpose

Thank you. It's been in storage for awhile and I can't remember why, so when I get the opportunity again I'll recommission it. The Toplines were a bargain, vbarely used if at all with their original box, but I don't think I will ever buy another set ....

Real eye candy - PMP threaded headset

PMP do some nice stuff, but I'm struggling to think of a frame that would suit.

    GT Ritcher 8.0 1993 Build

Richter 8.0 was a bit of a mix, with XT derailleurs, DX shifters and cassette and LX cranks/hubs/brakes. It should be listed below the Bravado LE in the catalogue, as the steel equivalent to the Avalanche AL (thereby taking the place of the non-Team steel Avalnche). The biggest factor for me is...

    GT scrap yard find

Thank you. I don't have many serials that late so although the model may well be identfiable I don't have enough data to tell. Made in Fairly factory 1998 - I guess May but @sam_white should be able to confirm that the 05 means that. If so, either a late 1998 model or an early 1999 model. I...

A very nice fully rigid Scapin ZR size M - Subito 200 Euros

Early was Columbus before they switched, I think.

    GT scrap yard find

If you can read the frame number on the bottom bracket shell then that will give more clues as to the ID.

A very nice fully rigid Scapin ZR size M - Subito 200 Euros

Very good price (but fortuately much too small). Without checking or a serial, I would guess 1992 - off the top of my head I think was the first year of the ZR (top steel frame). Nice original fork too.

Unusual Italian mtb frame Columbus integrated seat post

@ibbz Had his eye on this one, but it's very expensive. More famous for their titanium frames, but made some nice steel ones too.

    GT Ritcher 8.0 1993 Build

Difficult one. I think they score much higher in terms of quality then desirability, because it wasn't an established model like a Bravado or Steel Avalanche. However, I think anyone who's ridden one will be tempted .... I'm tempted and it's too small for me!

They are beautiful, but I definitely can't afford them (or justify them when I have an unusued set).

    Fisher ProCaliber Derby

Thankfully too small, or I am not sure I would be able to resist - even with nowhere to put it.

Mystery frame - Aluminium GT something? Zaskar?

Enough similarities and enough differences that a prototype seems the most likely explanation to me. It could be a replica, but a few strange choices if it is.

What's the late 90s steel frame of choice?

Italian brands were still making very good steel frames at that point - Scapin Blato, FRM Race Ready etc.

Zaskar LE - '93 Edition - Build thread

I had this British Eagle frame powdercoated: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/1993-british-eagle-exs.443781/post-3239205/ If the powdercoater knows what they are doing none of those should be an issue. Properly masked and applied, no need to face the BB or headtube after, or ream the seat...
