Early 1990 Gt Xizang 18” in the USA

Been up for a little while: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/lavoie-xizang-ttn-59.495972/ I didn't remember that but found the serial was already on my list from when it was previously outed.

Unfortunately, I didn't note that many details - it was one for sale on Ebay. My notes say:

👋 New here: GT LTS 1996. Advice welcome!

That's really interesting, as the RTS serial in the other format I have is 00293 which suggests they made the very first ones with Zaskar format serials and switched quite quickly. Thank you!

👋 New here: GT LTS 1996. Advice welcome!

Thank you, that's very helpful. I think the other one I have recorded is a US-built RTS, so would make sense for all those to follow the same format - even if different from the Zaskars. I've added that one to my list - hope that's alright but tell me if you would prefer me to remove it.

👋 New here: GT LTS 1996. Advice welcome!

I have this recorded from another thread - I have one other recorded with the 00 start but no idea why they appear to have one more 0 than necessary.

Thje dropouts are beautiful. But one day someone will tag me in something like a beautiful Aende in my size and I will have bought it before I know what's happening 🤣

Help please - Aluminium GT serial numbers

Do you know what year it is? *edit* Oh, I already have this one. 1998, right? The only year for the steel version.

Help please - Aluminium GT serial numbers

I don't have enough of this format yet (US made I guess) to be able to say for certain. Very likely that the month of production as well as the year is in there, possibly the 01 though why they would then have the extra 0 at the start I am not sure.

Help please - Aluminium GT serial numbers

I'm not really collecting the Zaskar numbers as they are well understood, but the LTS would be interesting when you have time.

Help please - Aluminium GT serial numbers

Hello, thanks for sharing that. Yes, on this format the 4th and 5th numbers are the year so it will be a 1996.

Hopefully someone can give an updated view, but they're recommended here: https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/official-recommended-or-not-paint-shop-thread.232111/

7 speed thumb shifters apart from XT

The DNP mentioned by LGF would be a good match as according to Disraeli Gears the long cage FiR derailleurs were made by DNP - though I think the FiR shifters were probably made by Simplex.

    Battaglin sl 201

SL is Columbus Strada Leggera tubing. I assume the 201 is just a designation specifically for the tubes Battaglin got from them. Main traingle should be butted 0.6/0.9. The easiest way to narrow down the year will be the groupset. I'm not good at road stuff, but if that's 2nd generation New...
