    From what I remember the gentlemen who owned it had refinished the frame and chrome work. He did all his own paint work at home. Yes he did use some later components, than that would of been originally fitted . It all depended on what he had to hand .

    Frame bags.

    You can buy leather off cuts on line . Not expensive, wrap round the frame where you need the padding. Hold in place with zip ties . I use it when clamping a bike in my work stand .

    Replacing an old freewheel. What's the usual way to go about it?

    2 notches ohh the joy . Thankfully someone came along with a better tool and splined fw and then a cassette . I still have at least 6 different types of freewheel tools.
