    Index front shifters GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

With you there bro. No idea why the industry thought it was a good idea. Maybe they assumed cyclists are idiots who just want to press a lever in a consistent fashion without any further thought or involvement

Raleigh Road Ace Frame and forks

Yeh, my club mates was like that. ...... going off piste but I wonder what happened to him, he was handy, especially on hard hilly circuits, but didn't have a climbers physique.

Wanted Karimor pannier anti sway clips, see pics

I'd put the same wanted ad up on the CTC forum. After all, they use touring luggage and are as bad as us when it comes to shed storage

    For Sale Peugeot Competition CP10

To a point, yes you're correct. But this isn't typically the type of bike, both in terms of age and style that interests the members on here. This isn't meant in a disrespectful way, but it looks quite modern and generic. I reckon it would easily do the asking price on say gumtree

What size frame shall I restore?

With your measurements, the 54 sounds about ideal. I can't work out how the 56 looks too small

Mystery chromed mid 80s bike with a 'T' serial number and engraved 'M' - Bob Read Cycles stickered

I do remember a bike shop on the main Balby road between Doncaster town centre and the A1 Warmsworth junction many moons ago. Whether this was the shop in question, I can't say. The shop was not ultra high-end, but did carry lightweight stock as well as everyday bikes and kit. Back in the 80s...

Front Mech for a TA Cyclotourist triple

While I don't doubt the fact that it works in terms of cable travel, there is the chance that leverage ratio between lever and mech is altered, such that the lever needs to be tightened up really tight to prevent the mech slipping towards the smaller chainrings

    Old Carlton: Dropout/Wheel Size confusion.

They were related initially though. The history I've heard is that Albert Butterworth (well before my time) owned both shops which he left to his son's. Tony ran the one at Hillsborough and this was the lightweight shop, the one that serious cyclists frequented, tea and biscuits on tap and tony...

    Clearing the shed and garage

What you going to do with it all? Scrap (properly scrap)?, sell? Offer FOC to other riders? Donate to a bike charity? I'm finding myself in that quandary. I haven't got the energy to sell or karma it out on an individual basis and I hate chucking stuff away on the basis that it'll be needed...

    Old Carlton: Dropout/Wheel Size confusion.

It will not be 140-150. If it is, then something has gone drastically wrong. Modern standard is 130 road, 135 mtb
