    1997 Specialized Allez Comp M2

Missed this when you first posted it. I’m completely unfamiliar with this era bike but it looks fun! I approve of the big-ass gearing. Brutal ride is probably not just the frame, but the combination of that and the deep section rims.

Mystery 8-speed cassette/ Campy for HG body?

Yeah you can do this. Or 9 of a 10 to get 9-speed on a 7-speed freehub. I’ve done this lots of times 👍

    Recumbents?

I saw someone coming through town on what might have been a Windcheetah about 2 weeks ago. They looked very vulnerable down there with an impatient SUV behind them. Very, very vulnerable.

    Rude lunchtime Rudy Project

I actually haven’t used it since I posted in June 😲 After I did that clearance under the fork crown, the tyres basically stretched a bit and started rubbing again! I really do need to get some new tyres so I can ride it again.

    Tubs for 27inch wheels

Very nice resto. Fellow Hobbs rider here - in fact I commuted on mine this morning.

Looking for bottle clamps to use on a Claud Butler 1980s 531 frame

I have these on my older bike: https://bankruptbikeparts.co.uk/products/bike-vintage-type-water-bottle-cage-clips-fixing-brackets-mounting-clamps-eroica?_pos=1&_sid=272dd5957&_ss=r Same clamps with a matching steel bottle cage...

    1950 R O Harrison ‘project’

And the headtube doesn’t have integrated cups.

    1950 R O Harrison ‘project’

This frame post-dates the clip headset era somewhat. There were a small number of manufacturers who persisted with them well into the 1950s, but I don’t think I’ve ever noticed R. O. Harrison being one of them. The steerer would be a lot longer if it had had a clip originally. The threads...

Another Sun Manxman on the road

If you don’t already know the age, the first letter on Sun and Parkes frame numbers tells you the year it was built. Should be stamped on the dropout.

    Robins bikes?

I specifically came in here to make a scene about apostrophe use, but it looks like everything is actually in order. Damn. Carry on.

My Latest Project - Early 1970’s Grandini

That’s just what happens if you use a wide angle and stand close.

    1976 Crustnalgo Super - a project

I was sad to see the patina go, but the new paint looks fab 👍

    Modern chainset question

Matching always looks better IMO. The black alloy 2x10-era Rival chain set is sleek and mega discrete looking. I might actually have one if you’re looking. I think bb-wise there aren’t any issues with SRAM. The only bb I’d actively avoid is that Race Face Team one which has the ‘wrong’ type of...

    Converting Retrobikes into gravel rigs.

I 'built' this 'rig' in 2020 to do the local paths with my lad on the back, but it's back wearing riser bars these days. https://www.retrobike.co.uk/threads/rude-lunchtime-rudy-project.365394/post-3235146

Help me choose a xxl steel frame

Don’t know if you’re on LFGSS, but there’s a dedicated large frames for sale / wanted thread in the classifieds 👍

    Viscount Aerospace.. but which one?

Looking good! I’ve struggled in the past to find large toe clips. I just made up some blocks to space them forward by 10mm. I don’t think I’ve got a picture unfortunately.

    1938/39 Parkes Lightweight

I've had a couple of braking near misses and decided to see about improving the brake. Handful of the usual commuting-related stuff with drivers not looking, but also been brake-checked a couple of times and the brake on this is not up to the job. I don't want to change too much if I don't have...

    1938/39 Parkes Lightweight

I haven’t been Rule 9’ing on this bike. Decided tubs, no mudguards and weak brake weren’t compatible with the wet weather so I’ve been commuting on the Hobbs. We got a break in the weather yesterday though, so I got a chance to do a shakedown ride/commute. Here it is down by the Thames...

    Vintage French randonneuer's and porteurs.

There's a lot to read on that link but it's worth it. I'm only up to where the stem is back from the chromers.
