    Bikes and trains

Anything that gets me out on a bike is a good thing😃 Also after riding up a mountain is always good to have a reason to take a photograph. Unusual that it's of a railway🤣 they are usually located at the bottom of the hill

    Lightest Steel Frame?

Awful name😪 Most modern frame developments are for carbon fibre not steel, so once you build it up with internal cables, tapered fork, aero seatpost, through axles, flat-mount disc tabs, push-fit or os bb, it's starting to look a bit odd, but costing quite a bit more to make than a traditional...

    Today's Ride

I've cycled round the tt course a couple of times in the past Noticeable today when I was on a few miles of the mountain section, I got aggressed three times by motorists😪 I'm going to mention it to the tourist board, because the cycling is great, and tourism is their no2 industry after...

    Carbon repairers? Advice

I don't see that it's under stress at that point? In reality, damaged carbon is worthless but potentially usable - you could just fill it, smooth it off and then monitor closely - professionally speaking it's a write-off because the structure of the material is too hard to determine. But...

Nice condition, and orbit is developing a following. Unfortunately, nice quality 90s close clearance racers are plentiful so choice is huge and prices are low. 250?

    Mystery bike

Frame looks like a gas-pipey 70s number from a big brand like Falcon - although they had rings in the badge, it was below the bird, and that looks like a windmill on yours . the lugs, fork, bb and dropout style were common on low end hearth- assembled frames. Wheels look nice, bhc? Campag...

    The British bike thread

If you want better brakes, I can fit discs for you. But... 1) it won't be original 2) it won't be cheap 3) @Guinessisgoodforyou won't be happy 🤣

    Un know

Is almost impossible to match OE wheels as they aren't imported as parts, they just come in on bikes. If you match the colours and rim depth, it'll look ok. If you want a perfect pair, it's easier to get a pair and then sell your single

    Brake help

At the time, placed on the ends of the (rear) canti bosses (over the cantis) to stop them flexing outward under high braking forces. You'll need assume longer bolts, and possibly spacers. Nowdays best placed on ebay or in the recycling😉

Just picked up this Dawes Galaxy Tour, extras thrown in 200 quid :-)

Soma does a nice 26 bar with short throw and shallow drop. Costs a few spons but keeps it all looking pukka. (I don't like the look of 31.8 bar/ stem on a lugged bike meself, let alone a quill stem🤢)
