    Cargo Bike Project.

To a certain extent, you don't really have any parts of a usable cargo bike here. You could add some gussets and up the braking, see where you get to. Plate is cheap, and if your bro has the kit and time, he can teach you to run a weld and you can get to work. If you want something good...

    Rivnutting 853 Frame?

    - Rivnut in 0.4mm hardened steel - A warranty repair or replacement is much more expensive.

For Sale NOS kona score dripping with high end parts £4000

You could buy several cars! Good luck with a top drawer sale🤞 People tell me the upper reaches aren't as moribund as the other, lower-lying areas of the vintage bike landscape i usually inhabit, but I don't see much evidence of that. Glws

    ai and us

My electric car took about 10MWh to build. Given its about 2x as efficient as our diesel car, its going to have to drive 30,000 miles to be greener than something that isn't very green at all. 🤔 Now, where is my bike?

The titanium weld and detail appreciation thread.

Minty seat cluster My Orange vitamin T, Sandvik 1993 I was told, in 94. Head tube welds, with "smug git" headset. And the dropouts, with added disc and rack mount by the "much-loved" Vernon Barker.😁 This bike has been kept relevant and spent no time at all in storage in its full 3 decades...

The titanium weld and detail appreciation thread.

I view repaired frames as usable but worthless - especially ti. If it broke through crash, there may well be stress elsewhere. If it broke through fatigue, then there's more fatigue, and it's a design flaw. The repair is likely to have complex features built in - many repairs break again...

    Rivnutting 853 Frame?

You can probably silver solder with mapgas, so cheap and easy to get the kit.

Just steam in there and solder them in. Aligning and drilling the holes will take longer, you might as well just do the job once👍

M5 is rare, m6&m8 more common. We have a little drawer of them If you still have a real lbs, they ought to be able to help you.

    Cargo Bike Project.

You're right about more bracing between the 2 halves😬 Those wheels are as cheap as you can buy, possibly off a kids bike. The pressed up steel hubs fail in hard use and the spokes will break. The rims might even be painted steel? The rear brake is inadequate, and looks like its got the wrong...

I can't be bothered to read something no-one can be bothered to write. AI makes me retch. Once AI starts posting, I'm off elsewhere. (So it's not all bad eh?😉) Hopefully, on my bike.

30.3mm must be an imperial equivalent. The usual source of very odd numbers 😉

I use the long plastic USE shims. They are sticky. on my ti frame went 0.2mm up and then sanded it down to a tight fit - reducing risk of seat cluster failure, common on ti😪 Loads of grip. If a 30.4 fits then either the tube i.d. is 30.4 or the post is undersized.

I've looked at that one, it's too expensive to bring back to life as a functional bike. Collectors only at that price, and tbh there aren't many of them about. Not with readies anyway. 😉
