Aero Garbage Wind Resistant a lie

Raleigh experimented with Aero bikes building a special aero framed Roadster for the Chairman and Managing Director Ian Phillips so he could survey the vast Raleigh factory site more efficiently. Ian always liked to wear a lighter colour suit especially on occasions such as winning the Tour de...

Information wanted about Beryl Burton & the frames she used

Beryl had a Fastback Time Trial Special built by the Specialist Bicycle Development Unit at the end of the 1982 season. It was repainted several times by Raleigh and ended up repainted by Bob Jackson as seen in 1993....sorry it's not the lo-pro 👍

    Cracked seat lug

Try not to overthink it, a small blob of weld on the small crack on the thick steel lug with localised heat shouldn't be a problem and would certainly get you out of the shit, that's the beauty of steel...it can be fused back together 👍

    Cracked seat lug

Don't need to replace the lug, vee out the crack with a rotary file, use tig and steel filler rod 👍

    Curious workshop ….

Al... what joke 🤣.... I'm more concerned about being on the road with my bike or motorcycle with bleeping driverless cars. I'm far more comfortable seeing an idiot at the wheel as you can usually predict and prepare for their next move 😉

Raleigh Road Ace Frame and forks

Yeah the same guides used on Raleigh's SBDU Aero bike built for the Dutch market. Same as yours... not an aero tube in sight just aero shifters and bidon 👍

Raleigh Road Ace Frame and forks

To accommodate the aero shifter mounted on the top of the down tube and the built-in cable guide on the AX rear mech 👍

Raleigh Road Ace Frame and forks

Looking at the difference in colour of the paint around the cable guide would suggest that it's a later addition by a previous owner rather than using a clamp on 🤔. I particularly like this style of paint and decals used for 83/84 and would suit my late 82 SBDU Aero Fastback much better than...

Raleigh Dynaflite SBDU 753.... 'Manager Special'

Time to get the Dynaflite ready for some summer rides and get rid of them mudguards holding back it's full aero potential. Also time for a new set of Continental Grand Prix Classics, luckily I bought a few extra pairs at the start of the restoration. Continental have stopped making them for some...

Help dating a (very) old BSA

Lots of catalogues to look through, looks like the frame design had a long production run. The Ops bike has probably got the holes in the mudguard 👍 http://threespeedhub.com/catalog-category/bsa/
