    Dave Yates resto build

Much better. 😁 Get those bars rotated down though. If they are pointing up like that to help your reach, move the brakes up the bend a little, and if that doesn't help you might want a bar with shorter ramps. The rule of thumb I go with is the lower flat section of the bar should be parallel...

the last frame acquisition, the uncommon and rare principia RSL in aluminium 7020

Beautiful looking frame, Principia make superb bikes. I worked with a German guy who was a huge fan and could really see why. 👌

Ah that's fantastic, I've heard tales of Ned's collection. Wonderful that this event goes off with such style and enthusiasm after all these years. Curly Hetchins Bates I think? One of my favourites

1980s chromed 'Bob Read Cycles' restomod

Lovely! Very tidy, and a nicer stem! You need some SRAM Red shifters with the red detail to tie in with the logos.. might be a bit excessive for the frame ;) I really like the functionality and feel of DoubleTap shifters, big SRAM fan from this generation onward.

Okay a few more: This was the most distinctive veteran I saw. Amazing looking machine. Rare splashes of colour from the newer machines. More later!

This is pretty local to me, and whilst my oldest bikes are 20+ years too new to run (1960 cutoff), it was fun to ride over and have a quick chat to a few owners and then watch the grand depart. I took a whole pile of pictures but here are just a few. Bates trike (cantiflex tubes)...

Retro/'old skool' skateboards - anybody got any....??

11 years on! I upgraded to some larger dia wheels and better trucks after a while. So many miles on this thing.

2003 Litespeed Siena - another ti build (slightly addicted to ti)

Veery cool frame. Love the rear stay shape.

    Spotted on the street

The red one is a very ratty Phillips, flat plate dropouts and brake bridge. The drivetrain is also orange with rust (zoom on the rear caliper for an idea). I am firmly in student bike territory with plenty of old heaps about so some don't make my cut. 😉

Some superb submissions on the last page, thanks everyone. The truss Bugatti is out of this world. I think I'm unlikely to spot one outside Sainsbury's anytime soon. 😁 @sjc I definitely have some 'worst bartape' offenders around here somewhere. It's astonishing what some people put up with...

    Thorn Audax Mk1 refurb

My reflections after 5 years and 21,900km of riding this thing... I love this bike, the frame is superb and has put up with a lot of abuse. I ride this bike all year round on my daily 25-30km round commute, through the British winter and it copes with it all so well. If I were to build it again...

Retro/'old skool' skateboards - anybody got any....??

10+ years ago I was living my best London hipster life, using a longboard to cruise around in achingly cool fashion (or so I thought). 😀 I even rode Critical Mass a few times on them! My right thigh muscle is still slightly larger than the left from all those miles. :p I know these aren't...

    Carbon repairers? Advice

I would try this... and 'monitor closely' as bikeworkshop says... very closely! Ensure you pick a suitable epoxy that will cope with the high temperatures this area will see. The brake track and internal face of the rim is taking a lot of force when you consider the pressure of the tyre bead...

1980s chromed 'Bob Read Cycles' restomod

Good work. Great to see it cleaned up and the sprayed crank looks very smart. I also quite like the red, but there is something not quite right about them -maybe it's that the font is a bit fine/fussy. Would probably have a bit more impact in a chunkier font. White text with a black border...

    Viscount Aerospace.. but which one?

Rubbed off the rust spots on the fork chrome and gave them a light polish before doing the black transition bands. For these I like to cut a strip of electrical tape to about 5-6mm, then tightly wrap over the paint/chrome transition. I usually drop a dot of superglue on the very end to prevent...
