130mm or 135mm rear spacing

I was under the impression it was 135 for MTB spacing and 130 for road frames
The ti frame i bought seems to be for a 130mm hub .
When i measure it it s actually 132.8mm,meaning when i fit a standard hub it spreads the dropouts and puts the disc mount in a slightly twisted fashion, makes fitting a disc wheel impossible
Local mechanic is thinking it really is meant to be 130mm not 135 and that this shorter spacing will prevent the mount from going off parallel

Is it normal for all bikes[mtb] to be 135mm or is it common to see both?

What bike is it?

Up till about 93 there were plenty of MTBs with 130mm rear ends. 135 only became standard when 8-speed came in.

Sorry,its this one from Gumtree.
Ti frame
Reported as being made for the campagnolo stand at some bike show in Poland
Unfortunately as thats too obscure a reference nobody knows anything.

If it has a caliper mount then chances are that it's not pre 2000 and so it will be 135mm spacing. You're only talking about 1.5mm a side - the change in dropout alignment will be negligible.
It should be possible to cold set it back to 135mm spacing as it should be and then either face the caliper mount square to the wheel spindle axis or else shim the caliper when you fit it (if it's a direct IS mount caliper, that is).
If it's the sort of caliper that has effectively an IS to post mount adapter (that's most of them) then you should have all the adjustment that you need anyway.

:? I'm confused.. sorry What difference will it make really running a 130 hub on a 135 frame? or opposite.. besides the disc brake angles..

around 1990 there were many frames made with 132.5mm dropouts. they were designed to cope with both size hubs. 130 was the standard for 6 speed, 135mm for 8, with 7 speed as some sort of middle ground. It meant that you only had to spread a stay by just over a mm or squeeze it just over a mm to get any wheel to fit. Perfect compromise. I would suggest that your local mechanic is wrong!

One good thing is that is does show that the frame is a good one as it was manly custom and small boutique builders who did the 132.5mm thing.

Where are the photos?

wierd that its got a disc mount
especially as campag never made discs (or did they)

but as andy r says post mount adaptor will cure it

Ooo, didn't really think about that, I assumed it was an AZ adapter rather than an original feature. If original then it should be 135mm and isn't a campag display frame as they never made disc brakes and wouldn't have a display frame with those on and it certain isn't early or mid 90s. If its an adapter then all is as my first post! :D

didn't think about that ,anyway you can't fit an A-Z type adaptor to a TI frame , its just not right ,is it

it's maybe been "messed " with
