1994 GT Pantera - Another unfinished project bike

Retro Newbie
I bought this off Gumtree back in 2013. Looks like it was thoroughly used with an interesting collection of upgrade parts. The Manitou stem is pretty cool, though super long and awkward looking and obviously doesn't match the forks. The plan was to convert the bike to a fully rigid street cruiser since the Mag21's are shagged anyway. I bought a pair of Gusset Jury forks and some chunky Schwalbe Big Apple tyres, stripped the frame down and removed the stickers but that's about as far as things got. The paint under the stickers has faded at a different rate so they left a weird ghosted effect. And the whole frame was covered in random squares of clear vinyl in a vain attempt to protect the original paint? I actually really like the original color (gunmetal grey or something?) and I haven't found any similar vintage GT's in this shade.

It "had" a nice synchros seat post, but I sat my fat arse on the back end of the saddle and the top of the post split. The Selle Italia Flite has definitely seen better days. The wheels are mismatched, assume the front is original: Mavic 236 with STX hub (matches the STX groupo) and unknown rear rim with Altus hub. The big chainring is stamped MADE IN THE USA but no actual branding.

Definitely a bitsa. Maybe I'll finish rebuilding it one day.....maybe.....
