Bullseye Hub service instructions

Re:

No, but what do you want to know? They are very easy to disassemble and inspect and the bearings are easy enough to knock out if they need replacing.

Always good to see original info, but I’m guessing it’s remove lock nuts and washers, then knock axle through which will take one bearing with it?, then use a drift to remove the other bearing?

As per Hope hubs?

Re:

Just checked in my Retro instructions file and I do have the Bullseye instructions! (Got them with a NOS rear Hub but forgot they had servicing instructions on the rear). So here you go

Re:

There you go!

Very helpful thanks, and confirms my suspicion...the axle on my rear hub, that was running a 7spd freewheel, is in fact for a 6spd configuration :(

Guess I’ll be placing a wanted ad for replacement axle, or calling on someone to fabricate me a new one

Re:

You can play about with the spacers to suit different freewheels. Dan Chambers has fabricated spacers for me.

Re:

As well as needing a few more spacers, the main issue I have is the axle length, the dimension to the inside face of my dropouts measures an arbitrary 135-136mm, whilst the axle length is 138mm, so that means barely 1-1.5mm of axle to sit each dropout on :?

Re:

That axle is for 130mm spacing and 6 speed not 135mm 7 speed( I have one too in a box of spares). I have a set of hubs needing a 100mm and a 135mm axle and spacers and was at some point going to speak to Dan to see if he would machine some up so it might be worth getting him to machine some for both of us. I have a 135mm axle I could lend him if needed.

Had the same issue with a rear hub that I'd bought to build the wheelset for my klein. Was fortunate enough to score a correct length rear axle eventually but only after I had made the same mistake and bought a 135mm rear axle from US eBay. I hadn't taken into account the material needed to go into the drop out not just the spacing!
The correct axle you need measures 143mm

Posted info here and a link to where I got my info ....includes the number and sizes of washers needed!

If anyone is getting more made , I'd definitely be interested in a couple.
