Old School Grand Master
Hi, I am Looking at having this for the road, Does anyone know which date it is ? , I have had a look online and can't find anything on the Jake the Snake history.

I know its not a retro mtb but I couldn't ride something that is not Kona .....

Thanks

J

my cousin has a muni mula with similar decals. it's a 2001, so this could be a 2001?

Thanks Chaps, It has sora groupset throughout, the decals are not the Glow in the dark ones, would frame number give any clues ? ?.

Cheers

J

It's a 2001. Even the saddle is identical to the one in the catalogue photo.

It may not have the original kit, but this is the original list

OK, but it's not much good I'm afraid. I don't think there's a history of the Jake the Snake anywhere I know of, nor any other Kona for that matter. Perhaps you'll be so inspired you'll do the research and write one! It was first sold in 1998 and as Kona was founded by Jake Heilbron and Dan Gerhard, who still own the company, I'm just going to take a wild guess that Jake Heilbron is a cyclocrosser. I wonder if he'd reply if you wrote to him and asked him about the history of the Jake models?

This is a better pic of the Major Jake, which was basically the same frame but in Easton Ultralight Taperwall, whatever difference that makes.
