can you clean tyres in the washing machine?

I saw a post on here some time about being able to put tyres in the washing machine to clean them, is this true?

I have just been given a white pair of tyres and would like to give em a wash!

Yes this is true. I've not tried it myself but I know that several members of the forum have, and with good results.
But it's probably very much a covert mission for the majority of retrobikers...

yes you can results vary but don't wash them over 40deg( or at least I haven't)

i tried it, results where ok, tbh u can't beat a scrubbing brush and cream cleaner!
