This project has been ongoing for over 5 years, mostly languishing in my workshop. Recently spurred on by other projects it was about time to get this fella completed, to what you see here now. Still work to do, but this machine is well on its way to be ridden again. It largely original bar the usual consumables... Its a big 25" frame, 12 speeds, Suntour mechs and changers, Reynolds tubing etc... Certainly of the tidiest Pro-Ams you'll see around!

Carried out more work today, cleaning and adjusting things. Rear wheel will needs truing as it's a little out. The front changer needed a cable stop so I managed to find one after routing around, had to pack it since its slightly larger diameter clamp... The bike has some nice detailing and the Suntour kit is good quality. I like the lever's ratchet system very much, not indexed but smooth and assured in action. Just need to dig out some pedals and clips now...

Nice bike, I have a similar pro am and I was wondering if you would be able to help me date the frame please it reads WF 0000386 with a S below and a R above I will be grateful for any help thanks

These later dates are a bit hit and miss, Carlton finished in 1981 but did carry on being built at Nottingham for a while by Raleigh, now I'm not 100% sure this frame number denotes March 86 - although that may be a bit late. The W originally stood for Worksop, but was continued to be sued by Raleigh after the Carlton factory closed.

Thanks for your help, the 2 bikes look very similar except the front and rear derailleurs are branded Raleigh as is the stem. And the brake levers screw into nutserts in the bars, on the bike I have thanks again for your help
