Centurion bikes

Just purchased a road bike (probably 80's) with the Centurion name down the side. I thought it was the American Centurion brand but now I'm not so sure. The front badge says HW Cycles, Lincoln. Does anyone know anything about this firm / cycle shop ?

The shop must have disappeared decades ago, I've never heard of it...it is, I guess, a budget bike with a shop name decal on it...

Centurion were certainly an "American" brand when I lived in the States in the '80s - had a lot of exposure through the Hawaii Ironman - Dave Scott was their sponsored athlete when he was winning it every year. IIRC, they were Taiwanese built. Always thought they were reasonable bikes, mostly steel as I recall.

Have a brain itch that says they were related to Diamond Back at the time? Pretty sure it all went bust some time ago. (Didn't DB also have problems early 2000s?)

My daughter's French partner had a Centurion triathlon frame that I swopped for my Giant TCR (it was to small for me) and then sold on. It was alloy, built for 650 wheels and not particularly light. No idea where it came from as he bought it 'pre-owned' and I don't remember any badges etc. with this info.

Back in the 50s/60s retailers sold sheets of waterslide transfers with generic names.
I'm sure Centurion was among them.

I think this is definitely a brand Keith, I'm sure I've seen others as well as the 2 shown here.

But the OPs isn't one like those shown...and when were frame builders brands...not back in the day they weren't.

Centurion connected to Diamondback were brands of the West Coast Imports company based in California. Centurion bikes were generally lugged steel made in Japan road bikes whilst Diamondback were Taiwanese built BMX and MTB.
However another Centurion named bike manufacturer is of German origin. Think the bike shown is possibly the Jap built American owned company.
