Can someone please tell me what year I got my Claud Butler Spirit please?

I'm guessing I've had it for 15 years...

I'm in the process of restoring her to her former glory, as I'm sentimental at heart and would never part with it. If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would be grateful. I don't just want any parts, I want the best, like she was back in the day :)

Thanks guys.

I'm guessing from the one I have that its about 1998-99. I did have a Spirit from about 96-97 but it was lugged construction and from what I've found out via here the UK factory was still churning out the lower spec stuff in lugged style about that time. By late 90's it had all gone Taiwan built Tig welded like the example you have. Mine though is metalic blue to metalic green fade not like yours so that might narrow the year down. Good solid well made if not particularly special mtb with sorted geometry from the V-brake era.

Re:

Thanks Chopper1192 and velomaniac for your kind replies, I really appreciate it.

I'm guessing my CB is dated to 1999, which would make it 15 years old now. Here is my frame number, located on the bottom bracket on the frame:

...but have no idea how to go about finding information about this frames date.

It's still got a lot of years left in it, but is really in dire straits at the moment. The whole chain, gears and braking system is completely shot. I've decided to completely strip the bike down, and replace the components (which I've been meaning to do for months now, just never had the time), give it a good wash and replace the tires, which are the original Tioga Factory XC 26 x 1.95, but have been worn down.

I could really use an expert opinion on the ideal components to buy, as I have no idea. I know it's a 7 speed for the derailleur, and it's a 21 speed bike.

Here are my front and rear derailleur:

If anyone could provide replacement part links, I'm also looking for a decent chain, yet I've no idea which to go for. I'm looking on ebay.co.uk for the parts. Also looking for a decent tool kit, one that would only be used from time to time but would really come in handy for this strip-down. Ice Toolz?

Lastly, is it possible to find replacement nuts and bolts and the Claud Butler Spirit stickers/decals by any chance, even after all these years?

I would never part with my bike, I'm really used to the frame and how it rides, and look forward to riding again once the parts have been replaced etc.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help, and sorry the essay! Just want to be thorough :)
