Fork shim steerer adapter 1 1/8 to 1 1/4

I have a saved search for 1 1/4 forks on eBay and when this popped up I just bought it as it seemed exactly what I needed.

It was only when it arrived that I started to think about the mechanics of it: it's not the steerer that fits the headtube, it's the headset. Surely it should be a two-part thing like a headset? I googled and found that sure enough such a thing exists

So what have I bought? Is it any use? I bought it here:

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272183480080

Re:

Looks like you got an ahead shim to allow you to use a 1 1/4" ahead stem on a 1 1/8" ahead steerer

Re:

Ah! Yes of course, that makes sense. Anyone want it let me know, otherwise will put it in for sale section
