Bought this GT just now on eBay for £75. Looks half decent without much description.

Not seen one of these about before, can anyone with a bit more experience than myself let me know if it’s particularly rare?

Thanks!

not really rare.
backwoods was mid range alloy frame, looks late 90s frame but not sure thats original kit as not familiar with catalogue specs
still a nice solid frame and not as stealable or bonkers pricey as the higher models in the range.

Re:

Oh ok thanks!

Didn’t really know what old GTs go for these days, the bike market is a bit nuts at the moment as I see many old Halfords own brand bikes selling for similar and if not more money with everyone (like myself) looking to get a bit of exercise in. So just as long as I didn’t over pay I’m happy!

Not particularly rare well except perhaps in that size - I take it you are long in the leg?
I have one of these to rebuild for my daughter. I think the main difference between this and similar GT frames is that they take a 73mm rather than a 68mm bottom bracket.

Good solid bike, sounds like you got it for a fair price - I have seen similar sell for a lot more - and certainly stronger components and lighter package than a hellfrauds apollo you'd pay twice as much for.

Have now collected, rides very well.

Needs a clean and tune up but all in all I’m pleased!

I’m 5’11 so seems to be a good fit. Very happy now I’ve collected, nice to have a project in lockdown!
