As above really, any suggestions for a lightweight (say sub 600g) crankset that won't require the loss of a kidney? I've owned Grafton and Topline in the past but my current budget doesn't reach those kind of heights!
Thanks for any imput.
Ben.

Re:

Good point regarding Shimano, there was quite a bit of trickle down from XTR and Deore LX did benefit quite a bit.

Otherwise maybe Sugino could be worth a shout? The Fuse and Impel chainsets were pretty much the weight you're looking for IIRC..

Including rings and chainring bolts. M900 comes in at about 700g according to my not so accurate kitchen scale. I don't think they're known as particularly light. I'm attempting a weenie make over on my Prestige. I'm not sure if 600g is possible without going exotic?

Thanks mynchiboy, totally forgot about Sugino, I have a Mighty 900 set on my Explosif  . I'll get them weighed.

No problem, forgot about the Mighty model myself. The 900 should be pretty much XTR level, fingers crossed they're good for you :)

Sugino Mighty 900 are a bit lighter than XTR.
Below 600g is into the silly money area in my view - M900/ Sugino / Middleburn are all over the 600g mark with rings unless you go for an UNO or similar.

Take a lot to the suntour SR 350, they should be cheap and with some TA specialites are quite nice and weight not too much.
