Litespeed-built frames - serial numbers etc

I've been trying to find out something about this frame on mtbr and, despite many hundreds of views only one person has offered any information. But DeeEight is very knowledgeable, so his suggestion that the frame was made by Litespeed, although surprising, must be taken seriously. His rationale is that (a) this is how he recalls it and (b) ti production hadn't got underway in Taiwan in the mid 90s, and in the US only TST and Litespeed were building for other companies.

The only stylistic similarity I can see is that the top tube cable stops look identical to a 1995 Obed. But even Litespeed may have used generic ti cable stops that were available for other builders to use.

The serial number is ahfm51 950/011. 950/011 might mean it was built in 1995, for which there is some other evidence, but I can't think what ahfm51 might mean. From my scant knowledge, none of it has any similarity to Litespeed serial numbers though, and I would have thought there would have been some similarity, even though they would need to distinguish frames they built for other companies from frames sold as Litespeeds.

It weighs 3.1lbs, which is quite light even for a small ti frame - that is a Litespeed characteristic I believe. It has a c-t seat tube length of 16", which I believe means it is a 15 in KHS sizes. Aside from that, it's pretty much the size of a Kona size 17 - c-c seat tube 14" (same), c-c top tube 552mm (4mm more), head tube 115mm (5mm more), chainstay 430mm (5mm more), but c10% lighter than a size 17 Hei Hei.

Any comments would be very welcome

I have a feeling that the above frame is of Eastern origin.

I was talking about a similar frame with Cannondaleking at the weekend.

Dan reffered to it as the "noodley bike" - not in a good way :D

Looks the same as this chaps on STW:

I have the same feeling, but DeeEight is the second person whose recall involves Litespeed.

Although P20 said he thought it was a KHS, Dan's didn't have any similarities to mine as far as I can see. http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=106870

WW Biffta also has one like mine and refers to it as stiff. I don't know yet, but I don't weigh much anyway.

It's the same, but he didn't like the decals. I don't think he knows much about it, but I'm afraid he didn't reply when I emailed him.

A 96 Tellico not only has the same top tube cable stops, but its 6al 4v dropouts look quite like the 6al 4v dropouts on mine too.
