Ok, looks like the only way I am going to get some green Paul stoplights is to anodise a silver set I already have

So, anybody had any work done by them, especially green anodising, sure it's good but looking for a little feedback

Hello Gil,
I work in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Is this where Mansfield Anodisers is based? If so can I have the address please.
Maybe I could pop in to see a few sample jobs/ get some info. :)

i think drapoon had some chainrings done?

I think Drapoon's were done round here (Northamptonshire), I remember it getting my brain going with all sorts of big ideas...

Plenty of people talk highly of Mansfield but i've never seen anything personally that was done there.

Yup I've used them, I think I may be guilty of introducing them to folk on here.

I've not had any bike stuff done, but I have had bits for RC cars done by them and have to say they are good, very good.

They are also obsessed with quality finish, so if you ring them an have a talk, they'll give you good advice on prep.

Finally they have very reasonable minimum order charges, which makes them good for this kind of stuff (still might be worth having a think about anything else you might want the same colour though, and getting it all done).

Yo.....

Well I can enquire into getting them done for you, I'm sure it will be cheap or next to nothing, but might not be able to get them done within a week, more like within 4 weeks.

I will say green is the worst colour to do so requires the most attention, ie surface finish & prep

If we can do a "group dip" I'm sure the people I'm in contact with will be happier to oblige

Basically I pass the pieces on to a guy at work who has bits anodised for his motorcycle race team hence no direct contact with the anodisers.

There are pics of the chainrings I had done on here.

regards

Martin

Matin,

Thanks for the info, I will ring them in the morning and either go direct or take you up on the offer, just trying to gauge how much prep I need to do before sending them off

Basically I think you do as much or little prep as you want, but any blemishes that can be seen now will be amplified once anodised. They will chemical dip the piece before they anodise so it's not a question of grease or anything like that just surface condition. With brake levers you dont have a sparce section of material so imperfections are not going to be obvious unlike for instance a car wing (bad example but you get the picture) no other metal can be present otherwise the magnetic charge will surge to this causing a volcanic hole in the surrounding allloy too!

I dont think you will be unhappy with the finish , I'm sure they will turn out cool 8)

if it works out too pricey with the mansfield guys just give me a shout anytime.

Martin
