Marin Quake 9.0 Advice

1997 quake 9's came with a xt group set except the cranks which were White industries and made of butter. ;-) and the front hubs which were White industries as well and much better. Brakes were xt parallelogram V's with separate brake and gear shifters.
The front forks were Manitou Mach 5 FS, distinctly average. And the rear shock was a fox vanilla R, which was good, but an original has probably got faulty damping by now, unles it has been rebuilt.

Catalogue is accurate apart from the orientation of the rear shock, and the inclusion of bottle cage bosses on the top of the frame.
No idea what price they would go for, mine is priceless! ;-)
Watch out for cracks in the frame at the head tube and at the pivot point. Also the rear swing arm cracks at the tube that joins the two halves together.

Also interesting to note that both yours and the one in the ebay have the bottle mounts on the top of the frame. I wonder if that indicates a difference, as I didn't think any of them had them. perhaps frame size? mine is a 17.5"

I had the frame powder coated by a company local to me (near Southampton) It was about £50 as i remember...as for the colour its a kinda metallic-y browny grey which I really liked but proved to be a bit of a marmite colour!..."pub bike brown" was one description! As for the bottle cage mounts...mine also was a 19" like the ebay one...so perhaps a frame size thing?
