Funnily my reaction was the same. That outer ring looks like a cheapo stamped on in a bso .... strange ciz why shoukd appearance matter? Im sure it is strong, light and works superbly, just looks a bit wank.

Might be the photography, but the whole lot looks a bit cheap (except for the cogs).

That chainset though. Blooming horrible looking and will no doubt age very quickly.

Still it'll no doubt be described in weaponised terms by the usual suspects.
