Hi

Just wondering if anyone is or has every run Panaracer Darts on the front and rear? Or are they truely a front specific tyre? Just got a new front one and can't find a rear new smoke to match...unless I want to pay £100 for one!

Cheers in advance

Doug

I think the dart is supposed to be a front specific tyre ie directional tread.

I remember running one on the rear once and it was pretty pants, compared to the smoke at least, I soon switched it round.

It's a tyre, it will work, just not particularly well on the rear.

I'd either hold out for a smoke or look for something else?

Ha Mint Sauce ahhh memories! Ok I get the point but just want to kit my latest out in some new rubber and smokes seem so hard to find...and I'm impatient!

Elpedro666 runs Darts front and back on one of his bikes.

My ears are burning...

Mine are magics and the dart doesn't hook up as well on the climbs as you'd expect, but generally it works pretty well and nice in the corners.

I've kind of settled on the idea that old tyres are all pretty rubbish, if you want grip go modern, otherwise don't worry too much

But fronts on the rear are cool (thanks Ted!) 8)

The original Dart was a rubbish tyre if you wanted anything resembling traction on the front.
The Soft Conditions version was slightly better.

If you wanted a bike with no cornering grip at all then a Dart on the front and rear would do the job.

That said the Dart II and the biscuit coloured 'Magic Compound' tyres were an improvement.

Perhaps ironically I've always found that the original Panaracer Smoke is a good front tyre. It's good on the back too but it is a bit draggy.

Ha thanks for that...still undecided as to what to do...there is a possibility of a NOS smoke dart combo but pricey!

The dart I have is the re-issue one see pic...2.1 and as yet unridden. I guess a lot of it is about the "look" But I don't want to be sliding around in the muddy stuff either!

If you're bothered about the look - don't do it either....

You'll just get it pointed out every time you air it.
