So I've been searching for a replacement steerer tube for my 97 Z2. It's currently an inch threaded steerer.
I've heard whispers that you can fit an 1 1/8 RST tube in there as replacement.
Obviously the lower clamping area diameter on an 1 1/8 steerer is usually 28.6, and there's definitely a removable shim currently in my forks, so my question is: would the 1 1/8 rst steerer I've found on a German site be a direct swap? Has anyone done it?

Re:

If it's a threadless steerer you're after I have one in a cracked marzocchi crown, it's not a bolted crown so you'd have to cut the steerer out of the crown but I'm happy to Karma it to you for the price of postage?

Cool!
Wasn't expecting that...
If it's a good length (ahem..) and 1 1/8 then I'd gladly accept! Thanks!

Re:

Found it (suprisingly easily) steerer has 220mm outside of the crown & about 30mm in the crown is that going to be okay for you?
