Right size GT frame?

Hi,

Just wanted to check, with GT frames (1990's) what sort of size would someone be looking for who is 6ft tall?

Also, is the size measured from the center of the BB to the center of the top tube or from center of the BB to top of seat post? I've seen some that are advertising with the dimension to top of seat post, but I always thought it was center tube to center tube?

Can someone educate me?

Cheers!

This might help a bit. There is another sizing chart somewhere that talks about inseam also. In my readings, the proper way to measure the sizing of an mtb is to measure from the center of the bb (crank) to the top of the seat tube. For comparison sake, I am 5'11" and an 18" or 19" suit me well.

Hope this helps!

P.S. here is another sizing link, where you enter your height as well as inseam:

they are measured from the centre of the bb to the centre of the top tube. you would need an 18" frame at your height

Yep, as Sean said. Measured C-C and I suspect an 18" would be right for you. I'm 6'3" and a couple of mine are 18", but I prefer the 20" frames. Chrisv is a similar height and prefers 18". If you are anywhere near East Yorkshire you're welcome to try one out for size!

6'2 and my '90 Timberline is a 20" gate, i'd guess the others were about right on their 18" as my 20 feels on the larger end of comfortable for me

Re:

I'm 5'10 and the 18 I have is slightly on the big side.

If I could sneak a 16" in for comparison I think I'd prob get on better.....

I'm 5'10", 34" inside leg, my 20" Zaskar is quite stretched out for me (work bike). My 16" RTS & Xizang would probably be better in 18".

Yeah I'm 5-9ish and my 18 inch xizang seems to fit pretty well, I'd have thought over 6foot would be 19 or 20 inch. But i guess depends on setup or how you like your fit...

this is a 20 inch zaskar, in other words, this is a barn gate :P

six foot wouldnt be tall enough to ride one of these, thats only 3 inches taller than me and if i rode that i would need a step ladder to climb on it and my feet wouldnt reach the floor !!

as for older GTs in 19" they are very thin to the ground so lets not confuse matters
