I have the Fox forks on my sts but they are grey and whilst not horrifically out of place, black forks would look better, enter the Reba sls.

Which is the better fork?

Aside from the travel adjust talas gizmo, the forks have the same level of adjustment, although the rebas have remote lockout.

I plan to swap the rs rear coil shock on the sts with a Fox one once I sort the trunnion out, so keeping Fox front and rear appeals in some way, but I'm not that fussed.

I do have a u-turn donor Reba if the travel adjust is worth it, either way the rebas will be used if the consensus is to stick with the Fox on the sts (see link in sig fir sts build if interested).

Cheers

No experience with Fox forks or any other bouncy forks for that matter, but the first and only suspension forks I've ever used are Rock Shox Reba SL and they've been completely trouble free in all the time I've had them.

Thanks for the info, good to know. Did you do any maintenance to achieve this or were they simply fit and forget?

They came fitted to a hard tail, a 2007 model Giant XTC Composite 3 that I bought new in 2008 and I've done around 1,500 miles on it so far. Apart from clean the forks and check and adjust the air pressure in them, I've done no maintenance. I mainly ride gentle XC with a mixture of tarmac, tow paths and the odd excursion through the woods, so nothing extreme like jumps or bouncing down rocky descents that would be much more wearing.

Thanks, it's all I'd be doing on them so sounds like they will take the punishment I'd be meting out.

My ex next door neighbour was a big lad, 16 stone ish, and an ex trials rider. He had Foxies on his stumpy. He thought they were coils sprung so in 4 years he'd never put any air in them. They still worked perfectly...
I don't like RLCs though. Try flicking the lockout lever without disturbing the compression setting.
Rebas are better damped but Foxes are stiffer.
