Hello I'm new here.

I was talking to my neighbour on Sunday and he said he'd found a bike in his dads garage that his brother bought in, he thinks, the early 90's. He brought it back to his and asked me if I'd take a look at it to get it running again. It's a black Scott boulder sports series with white decals and full lx. Looked a bit of a mess when he brought it round but I've stripped it down and cleaned it and apart from a few minor scratches this bike is lovely with not a spot of rust anywhere. Needs new cables and tyres and that's it.

Neighbour said his brother bought it, used it a couple of times then abandoned it. Little wear on brake pads and 'vee rubber' tyres shows this. Although the tyres are cracked and unusable now.

Bike has mavic m400 rims, ritchey quill stem and seatpost and at-2 bars.

Anyone know when this bike would have been produced? I'm guessing '92 or '93 maybe. Any idea of value.

One more question. What are people using grip wise on at2 bars - I've bought bar tape but maybe foam grips would be better.

It's got rigid forks and quill stem sonolder than '93 then.

I've got a 1990 Windriver in the green and blue, pretty original AFAIAW apart from the nice squidgy gell saddle (wife's bike).

this is my bike, and it's definitly not in oryginal specyfication - so, I don't know if it's good example...

Gary_M - if You'll show me a photo of this bike I'll tell You which Year it is - rigids beeing in Boulders to 1996 (1997 was 1st with suspension and little changed geometry)
You could also take a look for catalogues linked by Stumpjumper1990, but catalogues not includings some colours (in '90 every year except 1997+ had available two colour versions of Boulder)

It sounds like 94

Rims and bars sounds also like orygin 94 stuff - bars and seatpost... not neccesary.

If it's all black - definitly not. 92 and 93 was having bi-colour paintings
