Seat post size Saracen Rufftrax?

I have measured my down tube internal diameter & it appears to be 27mm, however all the seat posts I see on ebay are quoted as being 27.2mm diameter. Can anyone tell me the size seat post I will need for my Rufftrax?

Do I need a 27mm or a 27.2mm? Does it make any difference?

It will make a difference yes. If it measures up as 27.0mm then you should go for a 27.0mm post. Squeezing or forcing in an oversized post can damage the frame and/or become very difficult to adjust or remove.

27.2mm are one of the more common sizes nowadays, but 27.0mm size posts are still widely available.

that will be of same era as my kilicomp; steel frame, almost certainly to be 27.2 mm.

My 94 kili comp is 26.8!

Even if it's the exact same model from the same year, doesn't necessarily mean that it will have the same seatpost size. GT Zaskars are prime example of this.

Anyway for reference my Saracens take 26.2, 26.4, 27.0 and 30.2mm sizes.

likewise, the steel 80s and 90s Saracens I've owned have ranged from 26.4 to 27.0 and 27.2mm ID

Mine is '94, frame looks identical to yours. Originally these came with USE post and shim so may be you are not taking that into account? :?:

Unless yours is tiny frame that uses smaller diameter tubinhg but it is most weird.

Anyway, I retract my commentabove as seeming there was more than one tube diameter used, I mean, I can't know every single tiny detail about everything that ever existed. :? Sorry.

Thanks guys, I think I'm going to have to go with my 27mm measurement then, but there does appear to be a bit of a range!

27 wouldnt fit. Has a 26.8 and that is perfect. Not original post in mine so used a few to try. 27 wouldnt even get in there omre than an inch. My farme is a 19".
