Hey

Does anyone know of a Shimano BB-UN71 Bottom Bracket modern equivalent. Same weight or similar.

Which size do you need? I'd choose from the IRD range: QB75 or QB95, pricey but for a reason. Or the Tange-Seiki LN 7922, but both brands/modells can be cumbersome to get, I guess.

Iv'e not measured up yet but it's for a 1993 Saracen Race Elite. I think I'm going to build it up as my beater XC bike.

Re:

Depending on size, I may have a decent one spare. Also have a ti bb that has replaceable sealed bearings I'm not currently using.

i still see quite a few new ones popping up on ebay, unless you actually want a moderner one.

Youngest UN71s are 25+ years old so even if dried lubrication isn't a factor, I'd be aware of their age, as you can't repack them anyway, well, not in an easy way...

The IRD BBs I’ve had have been rubbish and did not last well, the Tange are excellent though and I would consider them a modern version of the UN7* - well sealed bearings, alloy cups, hollow axle.
